Focusing is set up for capturing fast subject matter with like minded movie-stills. A High-Speed Imager autofocus system that is nearly silent for capturing stills and video recording. Another advantage is a close minimum focus distance of only 4.6', outstanding for a 600mm (35mm equivalent focal length). This can be further enhanced by using the available MC-14 teleconverter, that multiplies the focal length by 1.4x and doesn't add to the focusing distance. The teleconverter also produces extra reach by creating a 840mm (35mm equivalent focal length).
Durability is essential for such a critical piece of glass and that begins with 17 seals to stop the intrusion of dust and water.
