Stains on Pentax K-5 Sensors
The first batch of PENTAX K-5 DSLR cameras included a few containing a stained image sensor issue which Pentax believes was created during the manufacturing process causing them to sometimes create photos with spots which appear somewhat similar to water drops, but cannot be remove by users with normal cleaning methods.

Pentax has promised to do everything in their power to attain the highest of quality future control, and remove any concerns their customers mayt have about their cameras.

Pentax firmware updates for K-x and K-7 DSLRs announced
January 18, 2011 - Pentax announces firmware updates for its K-x and K-7 digital SLR cameras. Along the same lines as the recent the K-5, K-r and 645D camera updates, support for for SDXC memory cards allowing the format's larger capacity but not speed. Version1.02 for the K-x and Version 1.11 for the K-7 are available download from the Pentax website now.

Pentax Digital Camera Utility v4.21 adds an automatic lens correction feature, and extends support to the K-5 and K-r DSLRs among other improvements.

[Main changes from Version 4.21]

  • Support for the K-r and K-5 camera.
  • Added [Bleach Bypass] mode on Custom Image function.
  • Add [auto correction] on lens correction item

Pentax posts K-7 firmware update - July 28, 2010
Pentax has posted a firmware update for its K-7 mid-level DSLR. Version 1.10 adds in-camera movie editing options via its playback mode, an electronic level and a Reversal Film mode to the K-7. Additionally, autofocusing in live view can now be activated by half pressing the shutter.

Pentax posts K-7 firmware update - Feb 18, 2010
Pentax has posted a firmware update for its K-7 mid-level DSLR. Version 1.03 provides lens correction compatibility for additional FA lenses, improves movie recording stability with specific SDHC cards and offers minor usability improvements.

The firmware is available for immediate download from Pentax's website.


April 22, 2010. Pentax has announced firmware updates for four of its DSLRs. Updates for the K-m/K2000, K20D, K200D and K10D improves stability while recording images in some SDHC cards. The latest firmware versions are available for immediate download from Pentax's website.
